Alan Lomax was one of the world’s greatest, most influential musicologists.

This rare screening of his recordings of Mississippi Delta blues singers, railroad crews, storytellers, church services and picnics was shot in 1978.  John Cowley, music writer and lecturer will give a short talk before the screening, followed by live music.

Part of our Translating Culture programme strand.

In association with Translating Performance, an AHRC funded project based at the University of Sheffield. Researchers will be present at these events, looking at the role of performer and audience.
